Intake

The first step is an extensive intake process, which allows us to get to know each other, as well as gather information about your holistic health history - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. The yoga therapist will conduct both verbal and written questionnaires, plus a physical structural assessment, in which you will explore modifications and adjustments for yoga practice.

The Next Six Weeks

The yoga therapist and client will work together consistently for the next six weeks to create a customized practice for the client. These sessions are collaborative in nature, taking into consideration the needs, preferences, and experiences of the client in response to the yoga tools introduced. Written notes and recorded meditations will be provided.

Moving Forward

At the seven-week mark, the yoga therapist and client will discuss the client’s desire for practice moving forward. This is a varied and personal discussion with each individual client, which usually results in a schedule for further treatments if desired and needed, as well as direction to integrate practice at home.

Concurrent Care

Yoga Therapy can be a mechanism for improved well-being but it is not a replacement for licensed healthcare. Flowing Tree Yoga highly encourages every client to be seeking concurrent care with licensed health practitioner practitioners, particularly those with diagnosed anxiety or depression disorders. Clients with a history of trauma are required to be receiving concurrent care with a licensed mental health professional in addition to participating in yoga therapy. If a client would like the yoga therapist to work in collaboration with other care providers, they may elect to sign a personal information release form with the licensed practitioner to authorize this communication.

Thai Yoga Treatment

Thai yoga is a hands on modality, that is available for interested clients, yet optional. A client dresses comfortably and rests on a comfortable floor mat, while the yoga therapist physically guides you gently through various yoga stretches and poses. You receive all the benefits of a yoga practice while focusing on relaxation and renewal. A yoga therapist is able to feel and address tension and trauma that is being held physically in your body to facilitate greater healing.
